Last week, we got the chance to talk to Philadelphia born hip-hop artist "Trel Mack" who is building a crazy buzz on the net with his crazy rhyming skills, and nice smooth, but forceful flow....
How did you get your name?
Um, it was something I pretty much inherited, you know,
child hood years
neighborhood girls use to like me, so the guys use to call
me Trel Mack, and I just stuck with it.
Where you from?
Philly!
Okay, okay, so how did you start rapping? how old were you?
I started playing around with words, you now reciting rhymes
probably at 13, it wasn’t until about 2007 where I started really doing in on a
professional level, so id say officially 06/07
So how did you get linked up with SKE and Q the question?
Well I met Q the question in 06, I met him at the library,
he was an up and coming journalist at the time working with Q publications,
found out he was involved with music, I was doing music, it became perfect at
the time, around a year later, we decided to built SKE (street knowledge
entertainment) and we just came together and built a brand since 07
I was listening to “no holding back”, I really like it, what
was the inspiration behind it? I felt the real emotions
Yeah well the song in general is pretty much just talking
bout, over coming a situation whether its relationships, negativity in your
circle, or bad things going on in the city, im pretty much just letting people
know its not holding me back, im from a city where its pretty hard to make it
out so you know
I don’t know if you heard this before, being from philly, I
could be wrong this could just be me, but has anyone ever told you that you
look like Cassidy?
Yeah, I got that before, actually not recently, but on old
pictures I have from college when I was at penn state, it was one picture I had
where people was saying I look like Cassidy.
That’s whats up. What’s the new projects, what can we look
forward to from Trel Mack in the next couple months, I mean this is my first encounter
and you got a lil buzz going so, what’s the next move?
Definitely, I mean, we
have an EP “Inspired by greatness” it just came out September 4th of
last year, im still kinda fresh to the people, still getting up there, so we
just creating more visuals for that project, we trynna get everything together
visual wise for that project. Other than that im just trynna get more music,
soon as we get it completed you know ill send yall exclusives.
Aha good lookin’ out! Saw the SKE clothing line? Any new designs
coming out?
Yeah we got new designs we working on now, gonna be updated
just now, but we just rolling with these 3 strong saying’s “Dreams are for
real”, “Inspired by greatness” and “Know and Konker. The design’s are perfect
for what the label stands for you know, a lot of positivity, I think a lot of
people will embrace it and wear it because its not like tacky, its nothing
negative or to blunt, in these times people love positive energy, they love
being inspired, they are inspired by people around them you know.
